DESIGN AS YOU GO!

DESIGN AND PROCUREMENT PERIOD

On this project the client had a clear design idea that they wanted developed as the main build progressed due to room layout anomalies owing to various site constraints. We developed the design specifications for the communal areas and as the build progressed, we were able to source solid core worktops and premium board solutions which were hugely cost effective and meant that the clients did not have to compromise on their design layout, but still came in on budget.

SITE LOGISTICS

Upon delivery, it became apparent that the room layouts had been built to incorrect dimensions, which when measured again were correct, but had been marked up incorrectly on images. We were left with no option other than to find on site solutions as to how to reconfigure the furniture to make the layouts work.

PROGRAMME & DELIVERY

As soon as we were on site, we worked alongside the main contractor Watkin Jones. We blended well with their on site team and we coordinated the deliveries and logistics like clockwork together. It was vital that we worked well together as the site was extremely constrained with a single tower crane and one unloading point. On top of the spacial incapacity, the site was affected by weather tight issues which meant we had to delay the fit to some of the larger sections whilst the issues were resolved. Our detailed delivery schedule teamed with our progress reporting system allowed us to reschedule deliveries with minimal disruption, which in turn gave breathing space to other key trades on the project. The materials needed for the communal areas were late in being ordered so together with the MC we decided to fit the solid core worktops on temporary base units allowing the services to be connected and commissioned. Once installed, we then organised delivery and installation of the permanent units by sliding out the temporary units and replacing the permanent fixtures into position.
